2026 Defender 110 vs 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE

Serving Annapolis, MD

Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz are recognized for their luxury and impeccable engineering, so these brands understandably garner your attention as you prepare to upgrade to your next midsize SUV. The 2026 Defender 110’s off-road readiness immediately distinguishes it from the GLE. What other differences should you be aware of as you prepare to upgrade to a new vehicle?

Performance

The Defender 110 is the mid-range trim level in the 2026 model year. It is available with four engines. The entry-level powertrain is a 296-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder unit. A turbo 3.0-liter, six-cylinder, 395-horsepower system and a supercharged 5.0-liter, V8, 518-horsepower option follow this. There is also a detuned V8 that produces 493 horsepower.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE offers a different powertrain and drivetrain combination for each trim level. The entry-level option is a 255-horsepower turbo four-cylinder gas engine. Without stepping into the AMG-level pricing, the most advanced powertrain available is the 510-horsepower turbo V8 system.

Appearance

The Defender 110 has an aggressive, capable look thanks to its captivating front-end design and squared-off shape. While the sides are flat, they are dressed up with lip-style flare around the fenders, a front-fender air vent, and lower-body molding. The nose sports half-moon LED headlights mounted in black, rectangular ports. The theme continues with layered, body-colored rectangles stacked through the bumper and grille.

The GLE offers classic SUV styling with crisply defined contours rolling across the sides and an arched roof. The hood is tall yet angled and fades into the wide, downturned grille. The LED headlights display both circular and linear accents.

Features

The 2026 Defender 110 is smartly appointed with leather upholstery, a leather-covered steering wheel, a tri-zone climate control system, a head-up display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 11.4-inch touch display screen, a Meridian sound system, a panoramic sunroof, forward collision mitigation, a wireless charging pad, and several additional features.

The 2026 GLE’s features include synthetic leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a sunroof, heated front seats, a touch display screen for the infotainment system, and others.
