Land Rover Key Battery Replacement: Step-by-Step

You should see a “Smart Key Battery Low” warning on your dashboard control panel if and when your Land Rover key battery starts to run low on power. When you see that warning, take the following steps to fix the problem:

1. Locate the button on the side of your key fob that releases the emergency key blade.
2. You can use the emergency key to pry open the two halves of your key fob case. If you’re concerned about scratching, wrap the end of the key in a piece of tape.
3. Remove the old key fob battery.
4. Replace it with a new CR2032 battery, and make sure that the positive side is facing upward.
5. Snap the two halves of the key fob back into place, reinsert the emergency key, and test out the fob. It shouldn’t need to be reprogrammed, and that means your features should once again work exactly as they were designed to do.

• You should only handle the outer edge of the battery during installation or replacement. If you touch the center of the battery, wipe it off with a lint free cloth before you finish the job.
